We Understand The Importance of Space.
The Corona-virus (COVID-19) has changed everyone’s lives in ways that we couldn’t have predicted just a few short weeks ago. Individuals and businesses alike will now need health and safety plans that will change the way we do business. These plans should be scalable and take into account all known and potential contamination scenarios while applying as many preventive measures as possible.
What we currently know is that the virus is mainly transmitted through the air and surfaces. Some everyday habits that we should all be doing while at work, home or commuting include:
• Wear masks and gloves at all times outside the home and limit direct contact with surfaces and other people.
• Wash hands and disinfect surfaces regularly to help curb physical exposure to pathogens.
• Keep as far away from people as possible using the 6-foot clear radius as currently recommended by health professionals.
HOW WE CAN HELP
How do the CDC recommendations translate to the standard office environment?
Day 1 solutions could include enforcing clockwise path of travel and fewer people in conference rooms to assure social distancing, or adding privacy panels to existing workstations.
Day 2 businesses could consider staggered workstations instead of benching to be truly socially distant, or provide more but smaller common areas such as pantries, copy and conference rooms to avoid crowding in compact spaces.
We are already seeing that spatial planning will be vital to how and when we return to our offices.
